Day 2 EuroSurf
It was a good day for the Irish at the European Surfing Championships in Bundoran as all members of Team Ireland progressed through to the next rounds of heats. Sligo’s Ashleigh Smith won both of her heats in the Ladies Bodyboard division whilst Bundoran’s Shauna Ward and Rossnowlagh’s Easkey Britton both continued to perform well in the Ladies division. Elsewhere Stephen Kilfeather, Ronan Oertzen and Oliver O’Flaherty all came first in Open Division heats across the day.
The current seeded top 3 teams, France, Spain and Portugal continue to perform well across all divisions also ensuring that the competition will be fierce for the final which is due to take place this Sunday.
Contest director Eileesh Buckley commented “we are delighted with the progress of Eurosurf. Due to conditions we were forced to finish our session at The Peak earlier than expected. However a full day of heats will take place tomorrow at Tullan with a decision on using The Peak expected early in the morning (Tuesday 27th)”
The entertainment line-up continues to run at venues across Bundoran through the week with team managers and members particularly looking forward to the Eurovision Open Mic night happening this Friday at La Sabbia. Headliners “The Undertones” play Paris nightclub this Saturday night.
