Irish Team going to Peru
Support Our National Junior Surf Team
The Irish Junior Surf Team will be travelling to Peru to compete at the 2011 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship taking place at Punta Hermosa, Peru from the 21 to 29 May. A team of eleven surfers will represent Ireland at the event. Conor Maguire, Cian Cagney and Cian Logue will fly the flag for Ireland in the U18 Boys division along with new cap, Louis Martin. The U18 Girls division will include three new caps, Emer Mc Hugh, Meadb Mc Closkey and Aideen Hillery. Gearoid Mc Daid will lead the charge in the U16 Boys accompanied by three new caps, Donough Cronin, David Gaynor and Neil Murphy. The team will join over forty surfing nations from around the World for this prestigious surfing event.
In the current economic crisis it has not been possible to secure a title sponsor for the team resulting in each surfer having to raise €1500 to cover the costs of attending the Championships.
We have already received a significant pledge of support from Irish brand, Emerald Surfwear, they have come on board as team kit sponsor supplying each team member with a stylish team uniform to wear at the opening parade and on the beach during the contest.
