Only want one board in your rack? Boom. You're sorted.
The Doofer is anything you want it to be. From mush to solid waves it is the ultimate all-rounder when you want to catch as many waves as possible and have a bunch of fun. We have tested this board in one foot Fistral all the way to 6ft Thurso and it really is a one board quiver! A great paddler, fast, easy to turn and holds a lovely line in the barrel. It's one of our favourite boards to take away when we can only get a couple of boards in the bag. Get yourself a Doofer if you want it all baby, a partner which will keep you smiling whatever the conditions.
THE TECH STUFF
The Doofer came about from the boys asking me if they could get a board that will be a bit of everything for when they travel. It is essentially a hybrid board. The outline is that of a stoker nose and a blue canvas tail pulled into a round pin. The wide point is pushed right up the board to increase the rail line which gives you the feel of a shortboard when you have your back foot on the tail pad, and the nose is nice and wide which is great for paddling into waves quickly. The rocker is fairly unique on the Doofer, it has a medium tail kick which is fairly curvy to the bottom of the rocker into a drawn out entry rocker; providing you with the best of both worlds when it comes to hold, pocket surfing and speed. The deck is packed full of volume and the rails are similar to that of the Blue Canvas. Due to the extra volume and the higher wide point you can ride the Doofer fairly short with out feeling under-gunned when the waves get a bit of size so the balance of using it in smaller waves and bigger waves really helps it to be a versatile board. The concave is that of a Charge from the tail to the wide point with a single running slightly deeper through the nose, helping it with paddling and lift in the water when you need to maintain your speed on the smaller waves but really gives it some hold when you are surfing off the tailpad in bigger waves. The balance of using it in smaller waves and bigger waves really helps it be a versatile board.
